Watch me remember how to ride a bike.
Well well. After a couple of years off (or more? I can't remember), I'll be playing a solo set on Wednesday, August 11th at the Melting Point here in Athens. The boys of Doctor Squid (one of my very favorite bands in town) graciously invited me to open their show with fellow Athenians Groove Tangent, and well, it just seemed rude to refuse. I'll be on around 9:30pm.
There will likely be a lot of folks there, but the crowd will not likely show up until after I play, so I imagine my set could be categorized promotionally as "an intimate acoustic performance." You know, not too intimate that it's awkward but just the right amount. We're not going to share deep personal secrets or do trust-falls or anything (probably). I'm not sure exactly what I'll play, but I'm aiming to dust off some old tunes and (hopefully) debut some works in progress. Not Warm Fuzzies works in progress, mind you - those are super secret right now - but some other tunes that I've been working on here and there for the last couple of years.I'm not sure what the cover charge is, but it's likely to be in the $5-8 range, and the Squid kids will certainly justify the expense. They're wonderful. Now, I should probably put this computer down and go practice...
